Ormerod, 39, joined Brig from former First Division North rivals Padiham this season after making 340 appearances in the Football League, including 215 for Blackpool.
During a playing career lasting two decades, the forward, pictured, turned out for Accrington Stanley, Southampton, Leeds United, Wigan Athletic, Preston North End, Nottingham Forest, Oldham Athletic, Rochdale and Wrexham.
Famously the only player to have scored in all four divisions of the pro game, he had made 25 appearances for Brig this season and scored 12 goals before announcing his decision to hang up his shooting boots last week.
Soon after his arrival, Ormerod showed he was still as deadly as ever in front of goal with two goals to help Brig see off Kettering Town 3-2 in an Emirates FA Cup third round qualifying replay.
