First round proper just got closer ...

By David Watters

The EVO-STIK Northern Premier League's clubs have the first round proper of the Emirates FA Cup in their sights after Monday's draw for the competition's third qualifying round.

Held at Wembley following the weekend's 80 second round qualifying matches, a total of 40 ties were drawn out of the hat at the national stadium.

After collecting £3000 as first qualifying round winners and £4500 at the weekend, clubs who make it through to the cup's fourth and final qualifying round will bank another £7,500 in prize money.

Three EVO-STIK NPL clubs are among 28 sides from around the country with work to do in replays this week to confirm their berths in the third qualifying round, taking place over the weekend of Saturday 1 October.

After coming from behind to secure a late 1-1 draw with Stalybridge Celtic, Witton Albion head to Mossley's Seel Park on Tuesday night to go again for the right to travel to another National North club, FC Halifax. Tuesday's two other replays to reach the penultimate qualifying round see Stamford hosting Gresley to book a trip to AFC Mansfield and Marine taking on Nantwich Town to travel to Halesowen Town in a guaranteed all EVO-STIK NPL clash.
