FOLLOWING last night’s final warm up game ahead of the new season, Chorley boss Garry Flitcoft agreed terms with two new signings, striker Lee McEvilly and goalkeeper Russ Saunders.
29-year-old McEvilly, who has featured in the last two games, arrives at Victory Park having ended last season playing for Blue Square North side Droylsden.
He started he career with Burscough then went on to play for Rochdale, Accrington Stanley and Wrexham in the football league as well as picking playing for Northern Ireland at Under 21, Under 23 and one full international cap. He has also played for Cambridge United, Grays Athletic, Marine, Barrow & Silgo Rovers.
Also putting pen to paper is goalkeeper Russ Saunders who was Supporters Player of the Year at Blue Square North side Hyde FC last season.
The highly rated 22-year-old has been with the squad for most of pre-season and has made several friendly appearances. A former apprentice with Wigan Athletic, Russ progressed to the first team squad with the Latics before leaving the DW Stadium. He then joined Altrincham before signing Ashton United then Hyde.
Both players will be in the squad for the opening game of the season on Saturday when the Magpies face North Ferriby United at Grange Lane.
