Flying winger lands at Millers

Evo-Stik Northern Premier League Carlton Town have followed up the resigning of Martin Ball by bringing exciting young winger Lee Potts to Stoke Lane.

Former Grantham star Potts, 23, signed a one year deal with the First Division South club after meeting manager Les McJannet at the Bill Stokeld Stadium earlier this week.

Predominantly left-sided, McJannet is understood to be looking at playing Potts, pictured signing, in an offensive role although he can also played at left back and wing back. His signing follows McJannet's capture of midfielder Ball from Worksop at the start of a busy week for the Millers.

Carlton Chairman Mick Garton was pulled away from his cricket match to witness the signing, described by manager delighted McJannet as a second statement of intent ahead of the new season.

He said: "Martin Ball and Lee Potts were top of my list this summer in terms of brining quality into the club and we have managed to get that done very quickly which I am delighted with. Lee helped Grantham gain promotion to the Premier League before moving to Worksop Town. He is definitely Evo-Stik Premiership pedigree and has trialled at QPR in recent times so this signing is a real coup for us."

The Millers manager added: "He has just moved to the area which has obviously helped but he is a really exciting talent and I am looking forward to working with him."
