Football legend and Kendal Town President Sir Tom Finney OBE, CBE has sent the Mintcakes his best wishes at Christmas.

Sir Tom, pictured, contacted the Evo-Stik NPL Premier Division club's committee on Friday to send a festive message for Christmas and the New Year from his home in Preston to all the club's playing staff, members, supporters and sponsors.

Kendal Chairman Haydon Munslow said that although the 90-year-old former England and Preston North End striker, who scored 247 goals in 566 appearances, is no longer able to travel to home games at Parkside Road, he's still receiving personal briefings on their progress and has been following recent events with interest.

Munslow revealed that that Sir Tom also took time out to back Kendal's new management team and their fresh focus on developing local talent.

Munslow said: "Sir Tom asked us to say he wishes the new management team of Steve Edmondson, David Foster and Neil Uberschar every success in their new roles."
