Ford takes on mammoth post-season charity challenge from John o'Groats to Land's End

Carlton Town midfielder Michael Ford is taking on a mammoth post-season challenge from John o’Groats to Land's End for charity.

Ford will attempt to run the 946 miles from the top of Scotland to the bottom of Cornwall - via the three highest peaks in the UK (Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon).

Starting on May 12, Ford is aiming to complete the challenge in just 19 days, covering approximately 50 miles per day.

He is taking on the challenge to raise awareness and money for two charities - Lymphoma Action and The Hike with Mike Foundation.

Ford’s mum was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma during the COVID pandemic, while the Hike with Mike Foundation is a charity set-up by a close friend of Ford’s to help people struggling with their mental health.

Millers captain Niall Davie said: “As the lad has a full time job along side playing football, his training has consisted of running 30 miles the day after a game, which I’m sure you will agree is astonishing on its own! As such, the players, management and club as a whole are in full support of his endeavours for two great charities.”

Ford has already raised more than £4,000 via his JustGiving page, and you can donate to his causes here.
