The crowd at the Don Amott Arena had to wait until the 34th minute for the opening goal to arrive, but Pablo Mills` strike into the top corner for Sports was worth the wait. Three minutes later and the home side almost doubled their advantage but Evan Garnett`s effort hit the post.
Five minutes later though, Mills and Mickleover did double their lead from closer range this time following a free-kick. Nine minutes into the second period, Sports made it 3-0 with Garnett getting his first goal of the season with a neat low finish into the bottom corner.
Ferriby, yet to win since coming down from National League North, reduced the deficit on 69 minutes when a cross was met by Dan Norton to head in from close range. And then eight minutes from time, the Villagers made the home supporters sweat when they pulled a second back from James Williamson. But the Derbyshire side held on to make it four points from three games.
