Second half goals from Simon Russell and Ashley Worsfold tightened the picture at the top of the table with a 2-0 win, lifting Trinity up to third in the EVO-STIK League Premier Division.
There are 10 points separating the top seven sides in the division, but with games in hand taken in to consideration there is little to choose between the pack which Scarborough still lead.
Gainsborough’s win avenged their 1-0 defeat in the reverse fixture, and they are now five games unbeaten in the league.
Sinnott told Gainsborough TV: “Delighted is putting it mildly! Every man put in a magnificent performance, we asked the players to bring their A game and I didn’t think there were any weaknesses at all.
“It was a very disciplined and polished performance.
“There is a hell of a lot of football still to be played, but as performances go we can use this as a template and we can draw on this in the future, that we came to top of the league and secured the points, kept a clean sheet and take a lot of positives.
“We’ve come to Scarborough and won, if it had been the reverse result they’d be stretching even further away. We’re overjoyed.”
Gainsborough will be hoping they can continue their recent run of form when they host Witton Albion on Saturday.
