Gibbons goes at Stainton Park

EVO-STIK League Radcliffe Borough are expected to name a new manager within days to succeed Joe Gibbons.

Appointed in February as the successor to Bill Prendergast after stepping up from assistant manager, Gibbons, pictured, left Stainton Park on Wednesday morning following his side's latest reverse, Tuesday night's 4-0 loss at home to Prescot Cables.

After losing their opening six matches in EVO-STIK League North and going out of the Emirates FA Cup in the First Qualifying Round, the 3-2 victory over Tadcaster Albion his side secure on Saturday proved to be a temporary stay of execution for Gibbons whose exit by 'mutual consent' was confirmed in a brief club statement.

Radcliffe chairman Paul Hilton said: "It has been a very difficult start to the season on the pitch, after what had been a very positive summer off the field. We have worked tirelessly to redevelop the club and unfortunately performances this season have not matched the expectations of all concerned. Joe is a genuinely great guy and we wish him all the best for the future."
