Gladiators confirm backroom reshuffle

Matlock Town have confirmed the arrival of backroom duo Richard Boryszcuk and John McDermott, as part of new boss Craig Elliott’s coaching setup.

Both have worked with Elliott previously at Boston United, Boryszcuk being Elliott’s Chief Scout while McDermott served as assistant manager.

The news also means that current Gladiators assistant Kayde Coppin, who acted as interim manager following the departure of Paul Phillips, will leave the club.

“Firstly I’d like to say a big thank you to Kayde for his help in the short term and wish him well for the future,” Elliott said.

“It was important that I brought in assistants who know how I work and what I expect.

“It was also important that they complement each other. John is an exceptional coach and has vast experience. Richard is making his first steps in management but has worked very closely with me in our previous success at Boston United.

“He’s got superb people skills, and a great eye for recruiting players.

“He can also provide great insight into opposition players. I’m looking forward to them joining me.”
