Matlock Town have unveiled a 'Wall of Fame' as a thank you to the fans and businesses who spent nine years fundraising the building their Twigg Stand and Social Club.

The Causeway Lane development has cost the Evo-Stik NPL Premier Division club more than £600,000 since fundraising began back in 2002 with the stand opening in September 2010 and the Social Club in March 2011.

The Gladiators saluted supporters of their 'Build a Brick' campaign ahead of Saturday's trip to Conference Premier Mansfield Town in the FA Trophy's First Round.

Around 100 people attended the Matlock Town Social Club to toast the official unveiling inside the Social Club's entrance with champagne. The ceremony was performed by two of the appeal's most prominent organisers and workers, Sue Tomlinson and Stuart Briddon, pictured.

Matlock Town's Chief Executive Keith Brown thanked everyone who'd supported the development including William Twigg and Arlington Projects, who had either supplied materials or built the two complexes.

Brown said: "It has all been worthwhile. When you consider what we had with the building looking like it was falling down around us to what we have now, it's something every one of us should be proud of."

Matlock Town's Social Club is available for hire for private functions. Further details are available from Keith Brown on 07831 311427, Tom Wright on 07850 065968 or by ringing the Club Shop on 01629 583866.
