Grantham bosses keep the faith

Grantham's joint managers Jimmy Albans and Wayne Hallcro are refusing to press the panic button despite their precarious position in the wrong half of the Evo-Stik NPL Premier Divsion table.

The Gingerbreads have lost to title challenging Hednesford and North Ferriby United in their last two outings but Albans and Hallcro insist their side coped well during both encounters, particularly during the opening 45 minutes of the league clashes.

The pair say they're confident that the crop of players who won promotion in May, along with a number of additions brought in this season, can turn their fortunes around with Chorley next up at home on Saturday.

Albans said: "We feel the players we have at the club are good enough to turn results round and get us finishing the season in the position we want to be in. Players like Connor Higginson and Deon Meikle have come in and fully taken their chance to show they should be in the starting eleven. The chances for others to do the same will come as the season progresses."

Albans also welcomed the backing the team has received from the stands at the Meres’ over the last couple of games and thanked supporters for appreciating their efforts.

Albans added: "Both the players and ourselves really appreciate the level of support we have had from the terraces and stands in the last two games. After both games the players have been in bits that we have lost.

"So getting the positive reaction they have as they are coming off the pitch has given them all a big lift when they needed it most. We all hope we can give everyone something to sing and shout about for longer!"
