Grantham Town's joint managers resigned in the wake of Monday night's defeat at Ilkeston.

The Gingerbreads lost 2-0 and the Evo-Stik NPL Premier Division club confirmed on Tuesday that Jim Albans and Wayne Hallcro tendered their resignations straight after their fifth reverse of the campaign that left the club in 16th spot in the table.

Chairman Peter Railton said the club was 'disappointed' to be losing the duo who took them into the Premier Division last season after winning the Evo-Stik NPL First Division South title.

Railton said: "I have very reluctantly accepted the resignations of Jim and Wayne. Whilst being very disappointed to lose them I do understand and respect their decision that the time has come for them to move on.

"I would like to take this opportunity to thank them for all their hard work over the past three years or so and also for all the enjoyment they have brought to the club. The championship flag proudly flying outside the ground is testament to their achievements.

"I'm sure everyone at the club will join me in thanking them for everything they have done and in wishing them every success in the future. They will both always be welcome here at Grantham."

Railton confirmed that the process of replacing their management team at the South Kesteven Sports Stadium had already begun.

He added: "Obviously my immediate task along with the Board is to appoint a new manager and we want to do this as soon as possible. Interested persons should apply by e-mailing the club Secretary at psnixon@hotmail.com. All applications will be treated in the strictest of confidence."
