Gray's financial faith earns radio call

Darlington

Darlington manager Martin Gray is one of the lead guests on the latest edition of BBC 5 Live's Non-League Show after putting his hand in his own pocket to help finance a return from exile for the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League's Quakers.

Gray, who took the helm at the reformed fan run club in May 2012 and last season steered them to the Northern League title at the first attempt, was invited onto Sunday's show after producers heard how he'd joined his players and other club staff in backing the latest fundraising drive.

The First Division North's Quakers are hoping to raise a minimum of £50,000, with a longer term target of £150,000, to help fund a return home in time for next season to groundshare with Darlington RFC. Fans and businesses have already pledged to invest more than £35,000 before Gray's donation and invitation to appear on the weekend show which runs throughout and switched to 5 Live last season after starting out on BBC Radio London seven years ago.
