Launched last season, phase one of the eco-project saw pumps installed at the Fergy Space stand to allow up to 2000 litres of rain water to be collected as a ready supply for use on the pitch and help the club make substantial savings on water rates. In the event of flash flooding the scheme is also designed to reduce the strain on the local sewerage system.
Head groundsman Peter Henderson is pictured behind the Fergy Space stand inspecting the results of phase two which has increased the EVO-STIK NPL Premier Division club's storage capacity by 300 per cent to 8,000 litres.
Officials at Croft Park say Henderson, one of the EVO-STIK NPL's nominees at the upcoming 2016 FA Groundsmen of the Year Awards, is now looking forward to seeing work starting on phase three which will see the Tynetec Stand at the Plessey Road end of the ground included in the scheme.
