The 34-year-old has decided to hang up his boots following an illustrious career within the sport.
He began his footballing journey in Liverpool’s youth setup, and has since made his mark in the Football League.
During the earlier stages of his career, Hammill represented England at youth level, playing for both their U19s and U21s.
Hammill had a fantastic period with Barnsley, first appearing for the side in 2009 before making a return to the club in 2015, where he enjoyed three seasons with the Tykes.
In 2016, he netted an iconic 19th-minute wonder-goal in the League One play-off final at Wembley, securing his side promotion to the Championship.
The experienced winger also had spells at Southampton, Wolves, Middlesbrough and Huddersfield Town before joining Prescot Cables at the start of the 2022/23 campaign.
Pesky Bulls chairman Tony Zeverona said: “Adam has had an unbelievable career. From breaking through at Liverpool under Steve Highway, scoring countless screamers for Barnsley and St Mirren, to the unbelievable strike this season at Ashton for us.
“He's been a star everywhere he's been.”
Zeverona added: “I would like to thank him for all his efforts this season for Cables, producing some unbelievable moments that we will remember for a long time.
“We wish him the very best for the future, whatever he does.”
