Premier Division round-up: Tigers at the summit as top six all win

By James Gordon

Hyde United climbed back to the top of the Northern Premier League with a 3-1 win at Liversedge on Saturday afternoon.

Jack Redshaw put the Tigers ahead after just 11 minutes, before second half goals from Manasse Mampala and Joe McGlynn, either side of Ben Atkinson’s consolation for the hosts, secured maximum points on their travels.

FC United of Manchester kept pace at the top thanks to a 2-1 victory at Stalybridge Celtic.

First-half goals from Dontai Gabidon and Regan Linney set Neil Reynolds’ side on their way, with Celtic top scorer Raul Correia pulling one back from the penalty spot 13 minutes from time.

The hosts were also forced to play much of the match with defender Dahrius Waldron in goal after ‘keeper Greg Hall was forced off with a head injury.

Elsewhere, a Clayton Donaldson hat-trick helped Gainsborough Trinity to a 4-1 win over bottom-of-the-table Belper Town.

Harry Lewis also netted as Trinity recovered from going behind to Nailers striker Luke Mangham’s 12th-minute opener.

Warrington Town climbed up to fourth as they beat Guiseley 3-1 to secure their fifth win in six matches in all competitions.

The Yellows, celebrating manager Mark Beesley’s 50th game in charge, led thanks to first half goals from midfield duo Stefan Mols and Jay Harris.

A goal for Lewis Whitham on debut reduced the arrears, but midfielder Matty McDonald kept his cool to wrap up the points in stoppage time.

Marine bounced back from their midweek defeat to Gainsborough with a 2-0 victory at Morpeth Town.

Second half goals from Andrew Scarsbrick and Hayden Campbell were enough for the Mariners, who climb to fifth in the table.

Meanwhile, Radcliffe scored twice in second-half stoppage time as they won 3-1 at Bamber Bridge, while Stafford Rangers staved off a Lancaster City fightback to clinch maximum points thanks to a 2-1 win at the Giant Axe.

Warrington Rylands earned their first win in eight league matches with a 2-0 victory at home to Whitby Town.

Jordan Mustoe opened the scoring five minutes in, with Callum Dolan netting from the penalty spot to seal all three points in the second half.

Curtis Woodhouse got off to a losing start at Marske United as they conceded twice late on and fell to a 3-2 defeat to Atherton Collieries.

First half goals from Jason Kennedy and Adam Boyes looked to have set the Seasiders on their way, but Marcus Cusani, Scott Bakkor and Jay Fitzmartin all scored for Colls as they staged an impressive fightback at Mount Pleasant.

And finally, Nantwich Town picked up just their third league win of the season as Dan Cockerline’s goal just before the hour mark was enough to see them past Ashton United at Hurst Cross.

The two other teams in the division, South Shields and Matlock Town, weren't in action due to Shields' involvement in the FA Cup first round proper.
