Rainworth Miners Welfare

Former Welsh international striker John Hartson has been unveiled as Rainworth Miners Welfare's guest of honour at their end of season sportsmen's evening for fans.

Hartson, pictured, turned out for Luton Town, Arsenal, West ham United, Wimbledon, Coventry City, Celtic and West Bromwich Albion during a long career and has been booked by the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League Wrens to entertain supporters at Kirklington Road on Thursday 9 May.

The footballer now works as a TV pundit and commentator after being laid low with brain and lung cancers in 2009 and fans will hear how he fought back against all the odds to beat the diseases.

The Evo-Stik NPL First Division South Wrens have also booked Yorkshire comedian Billy Bean, who's featured on ITV's 'The Comedians' and Sky TV's 'Stand And Deliver', for the event at their conference room.

Organisers say tickets for the event are £25 each with tables for ten available. For more information contact Les Lee 07740 576958.
