Hednesford hail super fans

Hednesford Town

Hednesford Town are paying tribute to fans who volunteered to get Keys Park ready for the coming campaign.

Supporters have spent the last two weekends carrying out maintenance at the Evo-Stik NPL Premier side's ground, painting the dugouts and turnstile blocks together with other key areas.

The ongoing initiative was organised by the Supporters Association and joint chairman Scott Smith is delighted with the results so far as work continues despite the current bad weather.

He said: "It was great to see supporters give up their free time to help with the maintenance programme set out with the input of groundsman Phil Roadway. All the people who volunteered worked hard to complete some important jobs around the ground."

Smith added: "Despite heavy thunderstorms threatening to disrupt working and having to dodge a few showers, SA member Keith Harley supervised the work and did a great job along with everybody else."

Club Secretary Terry McMahon also thanked supporters who helped out on behalf of the club.

He said: "All the volunteers achieved a great deal in the time they gave up and the club are very grateful for the assistance.

"Rob Smith and Chris Brindley are making positive strides on the pitch and days like these show the club and its fans are working together to continue the improvement of Hednesford Town's fortunes that we've seen over the past couple of seasons.

"There is always a great deal of jobs to do in close season and any supporters who are willing to volunteer some of their spare time either at the weekends or in midweek in the run-up to the new season will be warmly welcomed."

Fans wishing to take part should register their interest by contacting the club between 10am and 4pm on weekdays on 01543422870 or by contacting Scott Smith on 07518144801.
