Hednesford stopper starts for England U19s

Hednesford Town goalkeeper Josef Bursik featured for England Under 19s in their 4-1 win against Portugal on Thursday night.

Bursik, who is on loan with the Pitmen from Stoke City, is absent from club duty for 10 days during the international window and played the full 90 minutes in Cova da Piedada.

He played behind a range of Premier League and Football League players, including Manchester United’s Angel Gomes, Chelsea’s Callum Hudson-Odoi and Jonathan Panzo of AS Monaco.

England Under 19s host Macedonia at St Georges Park on Monday evening.

To cover for his absence, Hednesford have brought in Sheridon Martinez from AFC Telford United, and was on the bench for the FA Cup defeat to Kettering Town last Saturday.
