Hoole sticking by touchline team

Matlock boss Dave Hoole reckons he's all set for the 2018-19 Northern Premier League campaign after confirming his touchline team for the coming season.

Former reserve team boss Hoole, appointed as the permanent successor to Craig Hopkins and Glenn Kirkwood at the end of the season following a successful spell as caretaker, will be supported by coach Danny Cox, physio Mark Mullins and keeper's coach Adam Sollitt after the trio all agreed to carry on in their current roles.

Having already installed last season’s top scorer Shaun Harrad as his number two, Hoole, pictured, has told fans he is looking forward to working with the quartet again when the Gladiators return for preseason training.

Acknowledging any honeymoon period he's enjoyed will also be over come August, the Gladiators boss said: “The first thing we needed to do was to steady the ship and then implement a style of play which was successful and we did that. Now the hard work starts, there’s a good, long hard season ahead and that’s why we kept the backroom staff.

“Continuity was a factor, they’re a great bunch and very important in what we’re trying to do. Mark Mullins is an excellent physio, he knows the club well and is well respected and we’ve got Danny Cox in for his personality and his knowledge of this league and the one above. Shaun of course will be playing as well as coaching and Adam’s an experienced and well respected in goalkeeping circles. They’re all part of the jigsaw of what we’re wanting to put in place for the coming season.”

Hoole has also been talking to current players and prospective signings as he builds his squad for the new EVO-STIK League Premier Division campaign.

He added: “We’ve spoken to the lads we have and have verbal agreements with most of them, we’re wanting to keep them and build from there. People became aware of what we did and how well we played during those last nine games and our players have attracted a lot of interest but equally that can work the other way.”

* The Gladiators are freezing admission and season ticket prices for season 2018-19 with adults paying £160 before 1 August and £180 thereafter. Concessions prices are £105 and £115 respectively with all season tickets including free admission to the club's preseason friendlies.
