Hot-shot reaches another milestone

Leek Town’s officials have paid tribute to leading scorer Tim Grice after he made his 150th appearance for the Blues in Saturday's 2-0 home win over Coalville Town in the EVO-STIK Northern Premier League.

Despite failing to find the net on the milestone, Grice, pictured, boasts an impressive tally of 26 strikes to his name this season and is currently the joint third highest scorer in First Division South with 19 in the league.

The 25-year-old arrived at Harrison Park in September 2011 from North West Counties League side Eccleshall and has been a prolific scorer ever since, netting over 20 goals in three of his four seasons with the club.

The only exception to that was last term when he missed a large part of the campaign due to injury and his total of 73 goals means his strike rate is just short of a goal in every other game.

Blues officials say that figure becomes even more remarkable when you consider that of his 150 appearances, 44 have been made as a substitute.

Of the current squad only Ant Danylyk has played more games for Leek although Sam Hall should also reach the 150 appearance milestone before the end of the season.

In other news, Blues stalwart Chris Hermiston resigned from the Blues board at the club's recent AGM to concentrate on tending his beloved playing surface at Harrison Park. He has been made a life member of the club in recognition of all the hard work he has put in over many years.

The rest of the club's existing directors were re-elected en-bloc to serve another term with local accountant Jonathon Eeles elected to join them.

The Blues also announced on Monday that they've secured a sponsor for their annual Easter egg hunt for local charities.

Taking place this Saturday before Lee Casswell's promotion-chasing side kick-off against Romulus, the event is the brainchild of supporter Brian Spittle and is being sponsored by the club's local branch of Co-operative Funeralcare in aid of Horton Lodge Special School.

The school's youngsters are attending the fixture and each will be given an Easter egg at the turnstiles thanks to the generosity of fans who donated eggs during Saturday's win over the Ravens.
