January Fair Play Winners

The Fair Play awards for January have been won by CHESTER FC, WOODLEY SPORTS and QUORN respectively.

Chester picked up only two cautions in the four games they played during the month just ahead of Ashton United who incurred two yellows in three games. The First Division North prize went to Woodley Sports who have been consistently knocking on the door all season for this award and landed it with the excellent record of a solitary caution in the five games they contested. Another club with just one caution in the month were Quorn and they took the First Division South accolade.

In the overall season to date tables Stocksbridge PS who spent most of last season attempting to avoid a FA fine for their poor disciplinary record have really turned things around this term and lead the Premier Division table narrowly from Whitby Town and North Ferriby United who are joint second with only 0.03 of a point separating the top three.

Woodley Sports’ fine record in January saw them narrow the gap on First Division North Fair Play leaders Lancaster City who had a poor month discipline wise compared to their normal high standards but they still lead the season to date table by some distance. Woodley will still be looking over their shoulders as they attempt to hold on to second place with just 0.02 of a point separating Garforth Town, Witton Albion and AFC Fylde in third, fourth and fifth all right on the heels of Woodley.

The First Division South prize was a close affair with the overall season leaders Leek Town and Quorn both having just one caution in the month in four games played but Quorn took the laurels with a very slightly better Technical Area record of a 100% “Excellent” marks awarded by the referees of their matches whilst Leek had three “Excellent” and one “Good” in their games. Leek has moved clear of Brigg Town in the season to date tables as Brigg suffered a poor month with ten cautions in their five games. Quorn’s highly commendable month saw them join Hucknall Town in joint third spot.

Each Divisional seasonal winner will pick up a cheque for £1000 next May with each of the three runners-up pocketing £500 and the third placed clubs £250.

Chester FC will receive their prize of a 1.5 litre of Famous Grouse Whiskey prior to their game against Stafford Rangers on the 11th February. On the same day Quorn will receive their award prior to the Quorn v Lincoln United league encounter. Woodley Sports will receive their prize on Saturday 18th February prior to the kick off of their home fixture versus Ossett Albion.
