Joke post tickles global audience!

Nantwich Town had fans chuckling around the globe on transfer deadline day with a mocked-up image of Barcelona target Philippe Coutinho proudly posing in their kit alongside a cheeky post from the EVO-STIK League club's official Twitter account.

"BREAKING: Too late @FCBarcelona, we got there first! #WelcomePhil", received more than 7,000 likes and was retweeted nearly 6,000 times within hours of being posted by @TheDabbers as officials at the EVO-STIK League Premier Division club claimed to have gazumped the Catalan giants in a spoof announcement from The Weaver Stadium at lunchtime on Thursday.

Liverpool's Brazilian international has been tracked by Barcelona all summer with three failed bids for the wantaway forward who handed in a transfer request earlier this month. The Reds have been steadfast so far in their refusal to sell to the La Liga side - rejecting bids of £72m, £90m and a third offer believed to be worth around £114m.

The tug-of-war for the player may not be over yet as Spain's transfer window closes at midnight on Friday, 25 hours after England's 11pm deadline on Thursday.
