Kalern Thomas makes Corby return

Corby Town have announced the re-signing of talented defender Kalern Thomas.

The right-back returns to Steel Park on loan from Southern League side Ilkeston Town, who he joined earlier this summer.

Thomas was previously part of the Steelmen's promotion-winning squad of 2014/2015, and has since enjoyed spells in the National League with the likes of Boston United and Solihull Moors following his departure from the club.

He also boasts Kettering Town, Kings Lynn Town and Coalville Town on his CV.

Discussing his return to Steel Park, Corby Town manager Lee Attenborough said: "This is a statement signing for Corby Town at this moment in time to attract a player of Kalern's quality back to the club.

"I had a conversation with Kalern over the summer to try and bring him in and he expressed how much he enjoyed his time at Corby, but he had already agreed a deal with newly-promoted Ilkeston Town.

"Football is all about timing - I have kept tabs on him since and due to a change in circumstances, I struck whilst the iron was hot and managed to get him signed.

"He is a pure powerhouse and will add more physicality to our back line, which I feel you need to be successful in this league.

"He is exactly the sort of character I like to work with and brings experience and quality from a higher level."
