Keep calm and carry on winning

Runaway EVO-STIK League leaders Basford United are refusing to get carried away with their success as the only unbeaten side in the top tiers of English Non-League football.

Despite seeing his side stretch their run to 19 games with a 4-2 win at Gresley FC in the Integro League cup on Tuesday night and their lead at the top of the EVO-STIK League South table to 15 points last weekend, manager Martin Carruthers is taking nothing for granted with Kidsgrove Athletic next up at Greenwich Avenue on Saturday in a 3pm kick-off.

The Nottinghamshire pace-setters are the only club at Steps 1-4 not to have tasted defeat this season and Carruthers, pictured, said: "I might sound like a broken record but we are taking one game at a time and understand that if all eleven players are not pulling their weight then it is inevitable we will drop points. There is no room for complacency just pure focus on the task at hand. Everyone wants to be the first to beat us."
