'Keeper duo commit to Stamford

By James Gordon

Stamford have confirmed that Dan Haystead and Max Peverell have both re-signed for the Pitching In Northern Premier League 2021/22 season.

Manager Graham Drury said: "Dan has re-signed for us and I feel blessed considering the change in the league. More travel is required from Dan, however he just wants to play for us and be part of the Stammo family.

"Goalkeepers are the one area you need a steady eight out of ten and with Danny we can honestly say he never lets us down. I have worked with him over a number of seasons and the relationship he has with myself and the keeper coach Mike Hogg is all based on trust.

"I think everyone was worried with the extra travelling Danny may struggle to commit, he has a new job and a young family but once I made the call he couldn't wait to re-sign.

"He knows young Max is doing really well and is pushing for the number one shirt. In pre-season we have another keeper coming in to battle for this position. This keeps Danny feeling young and hungry and really wants promotion with this club.

"Danny will miss pre-season due to an operation on his knee. When back he will be buzzing to get back to being even better. Hoggy must take a lot of credit because I know how much Danny respects him.

"This brings me nicely onto young Max. What a keeper this lad is turning out to be and we are so lucky to have him at the club. Max has shown what a good keeper he is, he understands his time will come and when that happened last season 'wow' he never let us down and displayed why I rate him so highly.

"I really believe last season Hoggy and Danny were so good for him and you can tell how much he enjoys it at the club with the smile on his face all the time.

"Max also understands what I want from him to make him improve himself, he listens and is willing to learn all the time. With Max I really believe he's pushing Danny to the max."
