Ladies meeting at Moors in North East derby

EVO-STIK Northern Premier League Spennymoor Town are looking forward to hosting Sunderland Ladies who pulled off a shock win over Women's Super League leaders Chelsea last week.

The Moors say a Lady Black Cats development side are taking on Newcastle United Ladies in a friendly at Brewery Field on Tuesday 4 August, kick off 7.30pm.

Managed by Carlton Fairweather and in their debut season in the women's top flight after winning FA WSL 2 last term, pictured, Sunderland pulled off a shock 4-0 win over the Blues at Hetton-le-Hole last week to become the first side to beat them this season.

Newcastle United Ladies play in the FAW Premier League Northern, three divisions below Sunderland and coach Keith Graydon has thanked the Moors for their support in staging the game.

He said: "The whole Newcastle United squad are looking forward to playing at such a great facility, and we would like to thank Spennymoor Town for hosting the game free of charge, saving vital funds for the long season ahead."
