Latest defibrillator delivered for Dan

EVO-STIK League Shaw Lane are hailing the donation of another defibrillator by The Daniel Wilkinson Foundation as "fantastic" news.

The Ducks used their Twitter account @SLAquaFC on Monday to praise the weekend donation of a live-saving defibrillator to Northern Counties East League Division One side East Yorkshire Carnegie.

The Daniel Wilkinson Foundation was set up by the family and friends of the late Shaw Lane defender to fund the purchase of defibrillators for clubs and heart screening for players in the wake of his sad passing on September 12 2016 aged 24 after collapsing on the pitch during an Integro League Cup clash at Brighouse Town.

When the Ducks met Mansfield Town in the first round proper of the proper of the Emirates FA Cup, millions of fans watching on BT Sport saw the foundation's logo adorn the front of their kit as the EVO-STIK League Premier Division club paid tribute to Daniel and publicised the mission of the charity set up in his name to stop other players dying from undetected heart conditions.

Since the start of the 2017-18 season and the inaugural Daniel Wilkinson Memorial Trophy match between the Ducks and Brighouse in August, the EVO-STIK League’s clubs have been backing the charity’s efforts with adverts and flyers in all Integro League Cup programmes.

In an interview in October, his proud parents Gillian and Barry Wilkinson said more than £40,000 has been raised for the charity's work as they prepared to attend the biggest game in the club's short history and see their son's former teammates remember him. Shaw Lane chairman Craig Wood is a trustee of the foundation.
