Chasetown's new manager Marcus Law has brought in Paul O'Brien as his number two following his appointment on Monday as the successor to Craig Harris at the EVO-STIK Northern Premier League's Scholars.

Law and O'Brien are pictured together at The Scholars Ground on Tuesday night after meeting with the First Division South club's playing staff and committee including founding member Brian Baker.

O'Brien, 39, has been Law's assistant for 14 years including spells at Racing Club Warwick, Quorn and Barwell. He kicked off his playing career in the youth side and reserves at Coventry City before spending a year at Kidderminster Harriers and moving on to the likes of Stratford Town, Rugby, Bedworth and Hinckley.

While working as a scout this season, Law has seen his new charges in action on four occasions and after introducing his new assistant to the 22-man squad and meeting each individually, the pair took training ahead of Wednesday night's Staffordshire Senior Cup quarter-final at league rivals Leek Town.

The Scholars moved quickly to land the 39-year-old Law following the departure of Harris on Saturday night in the wake of their 2-0 defeat at Coalville Town.

The former Scholars FA Cup hero and skipper had been in charge for two and a half years before standing down after a run of just two wins in 17 league fixtures since September.
