League names inaugural winners

FC United of Manchester, Curzon Ashton and Carlton Town have scooped the first Bostik Club of the Month Awards of the new Evo-Stik Northern Premier League campaign.

The trio were named on Monday as the inaugural winners of this season's competition which recognises and rewards the top performers in the Evo-Stik NPL's three divisions every month throughout the season.

Judges from the NPL and sponsors Bostik, the parent company of league title sponsors Evo-Stik, named August's winners after examining the results, form and performances produced by the league's 68 sides in the opening weeks of the campaign.

Each divisional winner will be presented with an inscribed certificate and 4.5 litre bottle of Bells Whiskey to mark the club's achievement at an upcoming fixture by representatives from the league and sponsors.

FC United of Manchester took the Premier Division's laurels after recovering from an opening day defeat and subsequent draw to win three games on the spin while scoring 14 goals to head the top flight's table.

League Operations Manager Alan Allcock and Bostik Sponsorship Manager Clive Timmins are due to present FCUM with their award on Saturday before they take on Rushall Olympic.

First Division North winners Curzon Ashton will also be presented with their accolade this Saturday by League Secretary Angie Firth before the kick off at home to Bamber Bridge. The league leaders won the judges vote for recording the division's only 100 per cent start with four wins from four.

August's final presentation takes place at Carlton Town next Wednesday night when Bostik Commercial Director Dale Poulton and League Representative Mark Ogley will honour the Millers before they kick off against Lincoln United. Like the Nash, they are the only side to take maximum points since the start of the campaign with four wins from four in First Division South.
