Leave the fireworks to the players!

Stourbridge chairman Andy Pountney was urging fans to leave any fireworks in the cup to their players on the eve of the biggest game in the EVO-STIK Northern Premier League club's history.

As Gary Hackett's cup heroes stayed overnight in Buckinghamshire before taking on Wycombe Wanderers in the third round of the Emirates FA Cup, the Glassboys chairman told supporters to enjoy themselves but police themselves to ensure their was no repeat of the incident involving a flare when they knocked out Northampton Town.

The EVO-STIK NPL Premier Division club was charged by the Football Association under rules banning flares and pyrotechnics and the chairman reminded supporters of the significant penalties they could face in a message on the eve of the historic match at the League Two club's Adams Park.

Pountney wrote: "Saturday’s match will without doubt be the biggest in the club’s history, and the eyes of the entire footballing community will be upon us. We will almost certainly be backed by the biggest army of travelling Glassboys fans ever.

"Any repeat of this incident will almost certainly have significant implications for the club, financial or otherwise. It only takes one or two individuals to spoil it for everybody else, and to cast a shadow over what should be a day to celebrate, whatever the result.

"So we ask you please not to take pyrotechnics into the ground, and not to encroach onto the pitch. We hope there will be plenty to get excited about but please, please do not let that excitement get out of hand."

"Your backing is always hugely appreciated by the team and all associated with the club, and has been a significant factor in some of the memorable occasions we have all witnessed in recent seasons. Be loud, be proud, enjoy yourselves, and sing your hearts out for the Glassboys!"
