Legends line-up for Sir Bobby

Evo-Stik Northern Premier League Ossett Albion are hoping fans will turn out in force on Saturday to back the Football Association's new 'Sir Bobby Robson National Football Day'.

Along with clubs from up and down the country, the First Division North Unicorns are pulling out all the stops for a family fun day at Dimple Wells, pictured, to help raise awareness of the work of the late footballing legend's cancer charity - the Sir Bobby Robson Foundation.

The FA invited the Unicorns to take part along with other FA Charter Standard Community and Development clubs within the National League System's Steps 1-5 as part of their 150th anniverary celebrations.

Albion are planning a host of attractions including a juniors tournament, cross-bar challenge, tombola and bouncy castle while the main event will see an 'Albion Legends Challenge Match' between former manager Jimmy Martin’s Legends and current Albion director and former player Paul Riordan’s Select XI.

The match is expected to kick off at 1pm and will see a host of former fans' favourites pulling on their boots again. Riordan's squad is set to include Albion's record appearance holder Peter Eaton, Nigel Yarrow, Keith Cusworth, Paul Teasdale and the former Albion management team of LLoyd Fellows, Paul Watson and Phil Thompson.

Goalscoring legend Danny Toronczac, current reserve team managers Darren Holmes and Gareth Hamlet are also booked to play for Riordan along with current Unicorns manager Richard Tracey. Albion Treasurer Stuart Chambers is also set to make a guest appearance for Riordan's XI while Martin's squad will feature numerous former players including Gav Dooley, Andy Kettlewell, Mark Whiteley, Eddie Martin, Jon Braime, Mark Stephenson and Shaun Joyce.

Saturday's fun day kicks off at 11.30 with a mini junior tournament and concludes with an Ossett Albion Inter Squad Challenge Match which is due to kick off around 3.45pm. Admission is free with a bucket collection and raffle for the Sir Bobby Robson Foundation taking place during the day.
