Front man Adam Gilchrist has joined the EVO-STIK League new boys on dual registration from FC United of Manchester, the Vanarama National League North club.
Adam had appeared in Linnets' friendlies at home to Ashton United and away to Rhyl but did not feature in Tuesday night's 3-2 defeat of City of Liverpool.
The player joined FC United for the second half of last season, making his debut in the 2-2 draw at Salford City on New Year's Day.
He went on to make five further appearances during 2017-18, scoring one goal - the winner in a 1-0 victory over Manchester Premier Cup hosts Hyde United.
Adam's younger brother Jason Gilchrist had already played for FC United and the Red Rebels turned to Adam to help fill the void left by Jason's departure at the end of November 2017.
Adam, 28, was signed by FC United after training with them for several weeks.
In a 10-year non-league career he has also played for Radcliffe Borough (now Radcliffe FC), St Helens Town, Marine, Ashton Athletic and, more recently, Burscough.
Adam is comfortable either through the middle or on the right and left of attack. He is also a UEFA B qualified coach.
A Linnets spokesman said: "We welcome Adam and wish him the very best best of luck and every success with Runcorn Linnets."
