Loan deal could seal dream move

Leek Town

Leek Town winger John Johnston is on the verge of making his dream move to Crewe Alexandra.

And if the 19-year-old, pictured, does sign professional forms at the League One outfit, he is likely to be staying in the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League on a loan deal until the end of the season to aid the First Division South promotion hunters.

Johnson, who has had at least two other pro clubs tracking his progress at Harrison Park since his arrival from Kidsgrove Athletic last summer, has been in full time training with Crewe.
The Cheshire club, with its superb record of nurturing young players, are the preferred option in the coming days with Leek Town Chairman Andrew Wain hoping to secure the best deal possible for the Blues and the player, ideally an immediate return on loan until the end of the campaign.

He said: “Crewe are the first club to offer a deal and this is an opportunity that the young lad should not miss. I am now in negotiations with the Alex Chairman and I am confident we can reach a deal that will be in the best interests of both the player and Leek Town. If Johnston signs for the Alex, then we will be looking for him to be loaned back to Leek Town until the end of the season.”
