Lynch thanks fans after stepping down as Cables boss

Kevin Lynch has paid tribute to fans and officials at Prescot Cables after making the difficult decision to step down as manager.

Lynch, who took over as manager in October 2021, leaves the club very much in contention for the Pitching In NPL West Division play-offs, with Cables sitting seventh and four points off fifth placed Runcorn.

Cables have since confirmed the appointment of Steven Daley as their new manager, stepping up from his role as first team coach.

Lynch said: "I would like to put on record that in me trying to help the club set up an Academy and become more successful both on and off the pitch, I have become the victim of a hate campaign which resulted in my car being vandalised and graffiti wrote about me outside the ground which has all been reported to the police. But this isn’t nice for my children to see and who are always with me at the games supporting me and Cables and I didn’t want them to be put through this sort of thing. Therefore, I decided enough is enough and there is more to life.

"I would like to think I have put the club in a much better place than when I first took over and have put in the right structures and playing philosophy that will take the club forward. I couldn’t have done this without the players who I had assembled and them buying into the project, so I thank them.

"I would also like to put on record the fans of the club, they have been absolutely fantastic with me since the minute I first walked through the door. They are one of the most fanatical group of supporters I have come across and it was a privilege to represent them. I can’t thank them enough and they deserve to have a smile put on their faces. I had a vision of where I wanted to take the club and we were definitely moving in the right direction from fighting relegation to fighting for promotion, but unfortunately this has been cut short, due to thuggish behaviour by people who have nothing to do with the club.

"I would also like to thank Tony (Chairman) for believing in me. Prescot Cables will always remain close to my heart, and I wish them the best of luck going forward. I would like to thank Wacker (assistant), Ste (1st Team Coach), Gary (Kit man) and Alan (Physio) for the commitment and support and wish them the best of luck too.

"Paul (Club Secretary), Alan (match day secretary) and Richard (Kit man), plus Vicky and Jess for there help, they have all played a massive part to what we were building at Prescot and I can’t thank them enough. Prescot will always remain close to my heart and I hope to come back sometime soon to watch Prescot in the future as a supporter."
