Macclesfield bring in Southport defender

Macclesfield have signed Freddie Sass on a one-month loan deal from National League North side Southport.

Sass previously spent time as part of the Silkmen academy setup before making his first senior move to Egerton FC, who are a part of the Cheshire League.

Since then, the 22-year old has continued to progress up the footballing pyramid, with his previous clubs consisting of Stalybridge Celtic, Tadcaster Albion and Mossley.

The defender mainly serves as a left-back, although he is capable of playing in a number of positions across the backline, handing the Silkmen useful versatility as they continue their first season back at Step 3 level.

The agreement to bring in Sass comes amid a busy 24 hours for Macclesfield, after they allowed midfielder James Hardy to depart on loan to fellow NPL side Ashton United.

The club will now turn their attention to Tuesday night’s fixture away at Ilkeston Town.
