The new deal is for up to five seasons and is the third time the NPL has partnered with Macron, who were the league’s first ever official kit partner back in 2008.
Macron already supply a number of NPL clubs including Scarborough Athletic, Stockton Town, Cambridge City and Kidsgrove Athletic with their official playing kit and have been re-appointed following a detailed tender process in which the NPL engaged with a dozen brands.
Macron was chosen from a final shortlist of four based on their overall offering, commitment to service and a Service Level Agreement covering delivery deadlines, replacement of wrongly-sized garments and other essential club requirements.
Macron teams up again with the NPL at a time when the league has expanded to 81 clubs and nearly 400,000 fans have passed through NPL club turnstiles so far this season with average attendances up 14% across the board.
QUOTES
“The decision to change benchwear partner is never taken lightly” says NPL chairman Mark Harris, “However circumstances, plus a compelling offer from a brand that knows the League, and our Clubs well, proved very persuasive.
The quality of Macron garments is well-known, and their service levels are illustrated by the number of NPL clubs who remained with Macron even after the League benchwear partner changed.
“Macron’s offering has evolved during our time apart, with the online shop available to clubs that become Macron customers offering additional revenue generation opportunities.”
On completing the deal, Macron Country Manager Andrea Palilla said “It’s a pleasure for us to be able to re-establish the partnership with the Pitching-In Northern Premier League for the third time in our history and for the next 5 seasons as benchwear partner. We see this as another important step and a big piece in the jigsaw for our continuous development in the UK market with the particular focus on grass roots football. Special thanks NPL Chairman Mark Harris and NPL Commercial & Compliance Manager Paul Hatt and for the trust and support over the last few weeks.”
Macron’s current partner clubs in the professional game include Italian giants Lazio and Sampdoria and EFL Championship sides Millwall and Reading.
Founded more than 50 years ago, Macron also supply a range of football federations and major organisations in rugby and basketball.
Their widespread offering also includes running gear, training wear and leisurewear, as well the Macron 4 The Planet initiative to promote greater environmental sustainability.
