Manager agrees historic deal

Brighouse Town manager Paul Quinn has become the first contracted manager in the EVO-STIK Northern Premier League club`s history.

The 32-year-old, pictured, has been rewarded with a season-long contract for leading the club to their highest ever league position since taking over at St Giles Road in August 2011 and winning promotion from the Northern Counties East League Premier Division to EVO-STIK NPL First Division North in 2014.

Acting Brighouse Town chairman Charles Tolley said: "Paul is an ambitious young manager who has led this club to its highest ever league position. Paul is integral to our ambitions as a club and this will be one of several announcements in terms of recruitment and retention that we will be making.

"We are in a highly competitive league and we want to keep progressing as a club. We have to ensure the ambitions of those involved at playing and coaching level are matched off the field, after stabilising our status at this level we are now in a stronger financial position to push forward on and off the field."

Quinn, who is preparing his side for the West Yorkshire club`s opening pre-season friendly against FC Halifax Town on Saturday, is setting his sights on improving on last season's 14th place finish to their first season at Step 4.

He said: "It's exciting times for the club in general. We are working behind the scenes to add to the squad and we are aiming to finalise some deals over the next couple of weeks and in the run up to the start of the new season.

“Things are progressing off the field and we are set for a very interesting season. We have the nucleus of a very good squad and with recent developments we are now in a position to strengthen further."
