FA Trophy Quarter Final Draw

Evo-Stik Northern Premier League Chorley will travel to Grimsby Town in the FA Trophy Quarter Finals if Garry Flitcroft’s title-chasers can overcome Tamworth in their last 16 replay on Tuesday night.

After drawing 1-1 at the Conference Premier outfit’s Lambs Ground on Saturday – an equaliser from the penalty spot denying the Magpies outright victory – Chorley were handed another tough away trip in the draw for the last eight at Wembley on Monday lunchtime.

Chorley – proudly flying the flag for the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League as the lowest ranked team left in this year’s competition – will travel to the Conference Premier and ex-Football League Mariners on Saturday 1 February if they can knock out the Lambs at the second time of asking at Victory Park.

Grimsby currently sit sixth in the Conference Premier above Tamworth and Forest Green Rovers, beaten on penalties by Flitcroft's Premier Division Trophy hunters after a replay in the FA Trophy’s Second Round in December.

Ahead of Monday's draw, proud Chorley Chairman Ken Wright and manager Garry Flitcroft told the BBC's Non-League Show that they couldn't wait for the replay after coming so close to recording another famous giant-killing at the weekend.

Flitcroft, whose side will bank £7,000 in prize money with victory over the Lambs and another £8000 if they can win at Blundell Park, heard his side roared on by more than 500 fans in Staffordshire at the weekend.

He said: "We could have won at the first time of asking. The chances were there if we could have taken them. We’ve had amazing support from our fans and I think with 1,000-plus behind us on Tuesday night we can finish the job."

Chorley's Trophy run has seen them bank more than £20,000 in prize money alone so far and they've done it the hard way. Since entering the competition at the First Qualifying Round stage with a 1-0 win at Premier Division rivals Whitby Town, they've gone on to win 2-1 at Ryman League Soham Town Rangers, beaten Matlock Town 2-0 at home and overcome Curzon Ashton 2-1 at Victory Park in the First Round Proper before knocking out Conference Premier Forest Green Rovers to reach the last 16 and take on Tamworth.
