Hucknall Town have launched their hunt for a new manager after Brett Marshall resigned on Tuesday night following their defeat at Belper Town.

Marshall quit Watnall Road after the 2-0 reverse with the Yellows rock bottom of Evo-Stik NPL First Division South with nine points from 14 games.

Hucknall Chairman Derek Blow today [Wednesday] confirmed that Marshall and his assistant Graham Walker, pictured left to right, handed in their resignations within an hour of the loss at Christchurch Meadow.

Blow says the job of replacing them is now underway and that the club have already received a number of enquiries.

The Yellows squad will be informed of the club's immediate plans at Thursday night training. Blow also expects to appoint a caretaker manager or managers by then ahead of Saturday's league clash at home to Mickleover Sports.

Hucknall's Chairman revealed that two or three names had already been discussed and said: "I can confirm that they resigned last night at about 10.30pm and there are two or three people we are looking at to take charge on Saturday. At the moment we haven't anybody in mind to replace Brett but we have had a number of enquiries already and will start talking to people this week.

"This is a tough league and they felt they could do no more. We are rock bottom but there are 28 games to go and whoever comes in will have the job of moving us up the league. I'd like to thank Brett and Graham for the work they have done over the last four or five months and wish them well for the future."

Marshall switched to the Evo-Stik NPL in May after guiding Retford United to the Northern Counties East League championship in his first season at Cannon Park. They were denied promotion and he walked away to take over at Watnall Road.
