Martin makes United move

FC United have signed goalkeeper Ollie Martin, following his departure from Radcliffe.

Martin, 24, fills the void left by Cameron Belford, who returns to parent club Nuneaton Borough after his loan spell ended.

Manager Neil Reynolds said: “We had a vacancy for the number one shirt and I’m a big big admirer of Ollie.

“I have been watching him both playing against FC and going to their games and the thought of getting him to FC United is really exciting.

“I got to talk to Ollie about an offer and it wasn’t the offer he was looking for but we sold him the club, and he came back to us and said he’d be delighted to take the opportunity to join us, it’s been a long term ambition for him so we’ve done a virtual handshake over the phone, and I’m delighted to secure a new number one who I’m sure will be a fans favourite next season.”

Martin attracted interest from several clubs after his departure from Radcliffe, where he kept 33 clean sheets in 90 appearances.

He said: "Very happy to be coming to FC United of Manchester, I loved playing at Broadhurst Park and cannot wait to get involved with the new season, thanks to everyone for the warm welcome and see you all soon.”
