Mascot Invasion At Ossett

18 junior players join up with senior counterparts for Witton clash

As part of Non League Day celebrations, 18 volunteers from Ossett Albion Juniors FC arrived on mass at the Warehouse Systems Stadium last Saturday, 3rd September as Mascots for their Senior side for the FA Cup Preliminary Round tie against Witton Albion FC

The Mascots, ranging from the Under 8’s, 9’s and 10’s boys age group as well as the Under 12’s girls team were treated to a special day which included a tour of the stadium, pre match meet and greet from the Ossett Albion AFC team, walk out with a player before the Kick-Off and provided a penalty shoot-out for spectators during the half time interval.

All the Mascots received a certificate and an Ossett Albion AFC club scarf. Stephen Hanks, Ossett Albion Club Chairman said “Today has seen a special event take place between the Senior and Junior Club, one which we hope to continue in the future. Our Juniors are the potential future players of Ossett Albion AFC and today they were a breath of fresh air in and around the ground I would like to thank all those involved for their efforts in making this event such a success”

The match itself ended with defeat for Ossett Albion by 6 goals to nil. However, the main winner of the day was most certainly the Junior Mascots.

Ian Gothard, Junior Club Secretary said “Our Junior Mascots were fantastic today and gave the players their full vocal backing! Unfortunately it just wasn’t to be. I would like to thank everyone at Ossett Albion AFC for their generosity and making everyone feel very welcome. It was a special day and our Junior Mascots had a thoroughly enjoyable and fun time throughout
