Matchday experience just got better

Thanks to the hard work of the HTFCSA and grants from both Hednesford Town Council and Persimmon Homes, as well as the generosity of supporters Harry and Chris Wilkes and Alan Barker, home and away fans have had a roof over their heads at Keys Park since the Pitmen hosted Ashton United on the opening day of the 2017-18 season.

The project was started last season following a call from fans of the EVO-STIK League Premier Division club to upgrade their facilities after one of two areas in the ground previously used to accommodate disabled supporters became unusable.

HTFCSA member Harry Wilkes was delighted with the results after the group applied for a grant from their local authority and Persimmon Homes turned the suggestion into reality in time for the big kick-off to the new campaign on Saturday 12 August.

He said: “I think it is fantastic that we are thinking about disabled people and most of all the shelter, which they can now use during the sometimes terrible weather we get during the course of a season. Donating to this project was a delight and we are pleased to be able to help out.”

After throwing his support behind the project, Hednesford Town Council leader Alan Pearson told fans: “I think this venue here at Keys Park to help the disabled to be kept out of bad weather while they are watching the match is a really great venture.”

One supporter already benefiting from the new facility, home and away fan Sam Freeman, is more than happy with her new spot at the ground.

She added: “I'm very happy and grateful for the new disabled shelter. I will benefit from it in the rain and wind and it's also set in a good place where you can see the match from a great view.”
