Mather moves to Mossley

Mossley AFC

Mossley Manager Steve Halford has signed left sided player Adam Mather from Evo-Stik NPL First Division North rivals Curzon Ashton, writes John Cawthorne.

Mather, pictured, spent six years with New Mills making over 250 appearances for the Millers and was awarded both the manager’s and supporters’ player of the year awards in his final season at Church Lane. The wide man then joined Woodley Sports for an undisclosed fee in the close season of 2011.

He signed for Curzon Ashton in preseason but moved on to Mossley without having played a competitive game for the Tameside Stadium club.

Delighted Mossley say Mather can play anywhere on the left side, has excellent energy and ability and has shown a great attitude both on and off the pitch at all his former clubs.

Mather is included in the Mossley squad for Saturday's game at Farsley but manager Halford will be without the services of the injured Mark Haslam and the Lilywhites boss is still unable to call on the services of recent signing Ash Young as the club awaits his international clearance.

Chris Rowney is set to make his final appearance before beginning a three match ban following his dismissal at Cammell Laird.
