The midfielder signed for the Gladiators back in February from Curzon Ashton, and had been making good progress on the field.
He made six appearances for the club, grabbing his first and only goal in a draw against would-be champions South Shields.
However, he was forced off during their 1-1 draw against Ashton United, and it was confirmed he needed knee surgery.
Matlock started a fundraiser and reached £6,000. This included £1,000 from Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale, and £500 from Peterborough United chairman Darren MacAntony.
Gladiators boss Martin Carruthers was happy to get a deal sorted for Dimaio.
“We’re absolutely delighted to extend Connor’s contract,” he said. “It shows how much we rate him and the impact he’s had on the team since his arrival.
“He’s one hell of a talent but also an amazing person and fantastic for the dressing room.
“Despite his injury, we know he’ll be back better and stronger and we can’t wait to get him back and give us a promotion boost next year.”
