EVO-STIK League Mickleover Sports are set to host League Two Burton Albion next week for the KC Trust Trophy.
First played last season, the fixture in memory of Keith Calladine who was a supporter of both clubs, is taking place on Wednesday (23 July) with half of the proceeds from the 7.15 kick off going to the British Heart Foundation.
The fan and sheet metal worker had suffered from heart problems for a number of years and had a quadruple bypass in 2009. He was watching Mickleover Sports in action at the Raygar Stadium in April 2012 when he collapsed and died. The day before the 67-year-old had enjoyed a Burton Albion game at the Pirelli Stadium and was a regular at both clubs.
The KC Trust was set up by Mr Calladine’s son Paul to provide defibrillators in Derbyshire to prevent others suffering in the same way. The first one was presented to Mickleover after last season's inaugural memorial match and he has continued to raise thousands of pounds for charity by running in several marathons for the British Heart Foundation and the Papworth Hospital.
