Evo-Stik Northern Premier League Warrington Town have swooped to sign former Curzon Ashton winger Scott Metcalfe in time for Saturday's FA Cup clash with Winsford United.

The First Division North Wire's manager Shaun Reid and Director of Football Toby Macormac both say they are delighted to have landed the 26-year-old Metcalfe who's been on Warrington's radar for around 12 months.

A pacey winger known for terrorising defences with his crossing ability, he is pictured scoring one of his two goals for Curzon in their 4-2 victory over Town last season.

Metcalfe has also played for FC Halifax Town, FC United of Manchester and Ashton United and Macormac said: "He is a great addition to the team and one I’ve wanted for a while and see him as vital to our progression this season."

Reid added: "Metcalfe is another quality signing for Warrington Town. We now have a great squad of lads who can compete with anyone in this league. The team is taking shape and gelling nicely but we will not be taking Winsford for granted in the Cup on Saturday.

"We watched them in midweek and although they are from the division below us if their lads work harder than ours they are capable of beating us. We have to earn the right to go through and we will be prepared for how they play."
