Mick Murphy

By James Gordon

The Northern Premier League would like to express its condolences following the passing of Market Drayton Town FC chairman Mick Murphy.

Mick was a popular character in non-league circles and was regarded as a top gentleman by those within the NPL.

Market Drayton Town paid its own tribute, saying: “Everyone at MDTFC held Mick in such high regard - he was our ‘rock the man to go’!

“Our thoughts and condolences at this time are very much with Jayne and all Mick’s family and friends.”

Mick was also the chief executive of the Shropshire FA, who he served with great dedication for more than 20 years.

We join them in sharing our condolences and that our thoughts are with Jayne, his children, grandchildren and his family and friends.
