Midfielder's desire attracted Flitcroft

Chorley

Chorley manager Garry Flitcroft said he moved to sign attacking midfielder Paul Woolcott on Monday because of the 'ambition and desire' he'd shown for playing at the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League's Victory Park.

Woolcott, who switched to Premier Division rivals Marine in the summer after helping Skelmersdale United earn promotion before collecting their 'Players' Player of the Year' award in May, was the subject of a seven days notice of approach to the Mariners.

He went straight into Flitcroft's squad for Tuesday night's 5-0 Premier Division win at Trafford and the Magpies manager said: "I have been watching Paul closely for some time now and after speaking to him I knew he had the ambition and desire that I need in my players.

"The lad wants to come and be a part of what we are trying to achieve at Chorley. Paul provides bags of energy in the middle of the park, has an excellent football brain and is an great passer of the ball."

Marine wished their former player well with a spokesman adding: "Paul made 18 out of a possible 20 appearances so far this season and we wish him well in his future career."
